Join Yoga Reach International and South Africa Yoga on a yoga holiday that takes in the best of the Cape!

This holiday includes three nights in Cape Town, a visit to the world-renowned Cape wine region followed by six days in the peaceful surrounds of Walker Bay on the idyllic east coast of South Africa. For anyone wanting to see rhino, buffalo, giraffes, lions, zebra, hippos and crocodiles, a visit to the nearby Aquila Game Reserve can be arranged on the third day at an additional cost.

A portion of the proceeds of the trip will go towards helping children from communities affected by HIV/AIDS and for anyone interested in helping out, there will be an opportunity to visit and volunteer in the community.

The combination of world-class yoga instruction, amazing surroundings, great food and African adventures is sure to leave you glowing!

This holiday will include:

  • 3 nights accommodation at one of Cape Town’s trendiest hotels located at the foot of Table Mountain (breakfast included)
  • 6 nights accommodation at one of SA’s top retreat venues on the beautiful east coast, 2 hours from Cape Town
  • Dinner on first night in Cape Town and all meals whilst at the retreat venue
  • Daily yoga practice with top US instructors in multiple venues in and around Cape Town and Walker Bay
  • Visit to a wine farm on route to the retreat venue

Teachers

giselle-mari Giselle Mari – Advanced Jivamukti Instructor

An Advanced Certified Jivamukti Yoga teacher and E-RYT 500 she is known for her dynamic classes that have a down to earth approach to the practice of yoga. Each class infuses funky eclectic music, Sanskrit chanting, skillful and intuitive hands-on assists, an insightful topic for mind, body and spirit and an asana practice that will light your fire and send you home glowing. This experience invites the student to explore and investigate perceived limitations with an open heart and humor to facilitate the allowing of “what is”. Studied in Yin yoga as well, she appreciates the potency of this practice and enjoys coalescing these two powerful methods to create a visceral balance positively influencing how we see ourselves, and the world.

Giselle teaches classes and workshops around the world as well as presenting at yoga conferences and festivals. She’s also been on the cover of Yoga Journal Magazine and Yoga International Magazine as well as appearing in many of their articles. She will also be featured in Kathryn Budig’s book “The Big Book of Yoga” published by Rodale coming out in the fall of 2012. She’s been an ambassador for Lululemon Athletica and more currently with Gaiam and a contributing writer for Origin Magazine. When not teaching, she loves being with her amazing husband, daughter, and three dogs all of whom are her biggest inspirations and support.

Laura Burkhart – Jivamukti Instructor

laura-burkhart Laura Burkhart is the founder of Yoga Reach International, a company that specialises in yoga travel-adventures, classes and workshops with a philanthropic intent: to help the communities that it touches through both hand-on projects or donations. Laura started in the yoga industry at the Jivamukti Yoga Center in New York, working in public relations. She later joined The San Francisco Bay Club as the Yoga Marketing Assistant, then teacher, and eventually the Yoga Director of their prestigious Mind Body Center. Laura now dedicates her time to Yoga Reach and her students, teaching at some of the most esteemed yoga studios in San Francisco. She has appeared in numerous Yoga Journal and Yogaglo podcasts taught by Jason Crandell and was the June 2010 master class model for Yoga Journal Magazine.

Laura’s extensive studies under Shiva Rea and primary mentor Jason Crandell, have greatly influenced her intuitive, spontaneous and eclectic instruction style. Her creative and intelligently sequenced classes are smooth and have a rhythmic flow. Though some of her classes can be challenging, her beginning classes are fun for students new to yoga, helping lay a strong foundation toward a life-long yoga practice. Laura teaches gentle yoga classes that help calm the nerves, settle the mind and encourage students move students into deep relaxation. Regardless of class style or level, Laura is known for her warmth and attention to the needs of her students.

 

Getting There

For international flights to Cape Town International Airport click here. Transfers from Cape Town International to 15 On Orange are included in the rate.

Bodhi Khaya is an easy two-hour drive from Cape Town.  For more flexibility, self-drive is possible, however, return transfers to Bodhi Khaya will be arranged from Cape Town.

A portion of the proceeds of the trip will go towards helping children from poor communities devastated by HIV/AIDS. The retreat will include a day to visit and volunteer in an HIV/AIDS community.

  • A deposit of 50% is required to secure your reservation. This deposit is fully refundable on cancellations within 4 months of the holiday (i.e. before 1 November 2012).
